Superb! Really helping me move forward…

02-02-2007

These were the words from Sarah Walsh following our Manufacturers Workshop yesterday. Over 25 designers arrived for the workshop that gave a guided visit to four units including Kriss Beals amazing Pattern Power workspace, Posh Clothing, BCDs Ltd and Park Lane Styles.

Also, there was a full review of documentation for working correctly with manufacturers. This paperwork audit trail has been gleaned and gained over the last twenty years of working with the high street retailers such as Littlewoods, M&S and Principles for Women and the designers were appreciative. In addition the paperwork is available to download and each designer can stick and paste their own logo and business name and address too – so designers are ready to rumba!

The workshop started at 10am and went way past the 15.30pm closing time. It actually went on until 17.15pm! But…it was a definite hit and what’s more it was free thanks to the support of City Fringe Partnership and Larc.

“Firstly, I’ve been encouraged and inspired to keep going on. Secondly, I’m much more enlightened / educated about the whole process,” commented Taiwo Adeniyi.

“The information and experience shared by the trainers today has been invaluable and very generous. I’ve thoroughly gained a lot from it! Very friendly and open,” said Patrica Hong.

The next Free workshop takes place on Wednesday 21st February and this is to visit the head office of TopShop at Berners Street in central London. The time is 10.15am for a 10.30am start until 12.30pm.

Designers that are interested to participate must register online to Vanessa@fashion-enter.com or call the office on 020 8462 9620 .

At Topshop we will hear straight from the Head of Production what it’s like to supply TopShop and the problems they experience with manufacturing.

On Monday 26th February from 10.30am until 12.30pm we have the opportunity to take designers to a well established and high quality unit Euro Trim based at Seven Sisters. There will also be a chance to meet the Fashion-Enter Production specialist Andrew Fearon to answer any questions and also discuss production issues.

Demand for all the workshops has been high and designers are allowed to participate on a first come first served basis.

Thanks to everyone who attended yesterday, to LARC for facilitating the visits and to Michael Chambi too the Manager of Florentia Clothing Village.

Well done the team!

Jenny Holloway
