A Central St Martins graduate with her third collection Regine Mowill’s Autumn/Winter 07/08 RTW collection encapsulated the Victorian parlour game Snakes and Ladders and was aptly entitled ‘Snakelike Dreams & Ladders’.

Opening to the sound of bagpipes the show consisted of long snake-like knitted cardigans in a sombre pallet of browns and unstructured military style jackets. The Scottish influence was unexpected given Mowill’s Japanese-Norwegian descent. The pinafore made a return, this time with tied shoulders in Macramé knots in subtle tartan. Snakeskin print supported the Snakes and Ladders theme in hot pink and blue body-con dresses worn just above the knee and long-sleeved. Leather made an appearance in soft and unstructured jackets and as patches on black lurex minis.

Skirts and trousers were high-waisted in unimposing colours of grey and beige and worn with cropped and long faux-fur coats.

Bringing the look up-to-date and suggesting an indie-band influence, 1950/60’s mod style shirts and blouses were seen to be adapted to conform to a more feminine shape and buttoned tight at the neck.
