Julia Clancey

Julia Clancey’s Party-Girl image was channelled through her collection entitled ‘Rich’ possibly describing her cult following including, Emma Noble and Lady Victoria Hervey who were both seated in the front row of her Autumn/Winter 07/08 RTW show.

Julia, known for her chiffon and silk baby-doll dresses, turned a corner with her most recent collection with embroidered cocktail gowns, in blazing hues of purples and pinks and spicy tones of yellow topped off with intricate embellishments.

The 1920’s flapper figured considerably throughout the show with fringed dresses and skirts, pinafores, beaded necklaces and elaborately embellished skull-caps by Victoria Grant HMS.  The look was created with a saffron coloured silk dress with black lace and another with black piping suggesting an art-deco influence that was widely popular during the time of the flapper.  Flapper tunics were seen in white with black lace detailing and sheer arms.

Hand embroidery created a luxurious feel with jewelled piping, complex patterns and detailing around the hems of flirty flapper dresses.

Softer and less structured dressed appeared with a full length cowl necked gown, a hot pink wrap secured with jewels at the hip and a floor length halter-neck with Grecian roping.

Pleated skirts were worn with frilled bibs introducing a hint of Victoriana.  Pleats also featured in a dress with a satin hem and nipped waist.

Corseted dresses put in an appearance in body-con shapes, balconette bustiers and gothic jewellery.

Clancey’s glitz and glamour could also been seen in a silver sequinned tunic with slashed neck, black sequinned skinny trousers worn with matching cape with high collar and diamond trims.

Accessories were bold and opulent with gauntlets and heavy drop jewelled and diamond earrings.
