The Manufacturing workshop has proved to be a phenomenal success! Not only did the event give our designers a unique insight into the world of manufacturing but enabled them to take it one step further and set-up their own networking event which will be supported by City Fringe Partnership.

‘Bevelee Regan took the initiative to start up a monthly get together with the designers to discuss ways in which they could work together and come up with idea’s here’s what Bevelee had to say…


I have just returned from the visit to Arcadia Group aka Topshop!!!!!! Wow! What an opportunity, this course just gets better and better.

The speakers were informal which put everyone at ease, they were patient with all our questions which obviously we had a lot of trying to understand the buying potential and requirements of Topshop. I came away with a much better understanding of quantities, quality etc that is required from big business. That information is vital to prepare and present yourself professionally when approaching companies.

I think you and Vanessa at Fashion Enter are fantastic for setting up the workshop, it cant be easy getting these people to take time out of their day to meet us. As I said before, what an opportunity, I don’t think everybody could believe that we were given the opportunity to show a few samples to Belinda the concessions buyer.

On my own that could take me weeks, months or even years to make that contact and get a face to face meeting. I have sent many a sample to large organisation before only to receive nothing back, very disheartening.

Thanks again for all your hard work, where would up and coming designers be without Fashion Enter and your passion.

Lastly the designers were taken to Euro Trim a Manufacturer based in North London. Bevelee’s response was…

Wow, what an eye opener, what a great factory, with great capabilities.
I thought the morning was very helpful in understanding what kind of work factories of that size in England are capable of.

I know that Eurotrim where a little reluctant at first to show us all round, so a great many thanks to yourself for persevering and making that happen for us.

It’s fantastic to get an introduction, it makes the whole process of approaching the factory that much easier. I will feel a lot more confident approaching Eurotrim being able to say that I have been to the factory at the invitation of them, through Fashion Enter.

Jenny, also, whilst you were doing surgeries a group of us were talking, ‘networking’ and found that we exchanged so much information in that short space of time that it was incredible! I made contact with a lady that I had been trying to reach since the summer! Can you believe that?!

We would love to meet again as we are a lovely group (I’m sure you’ll agree) we would actually like to make it a regular meeting, at least until everybody feels that they have moved on a step further. I was wondering if there is any funding available for such meetings, I’m sure we can come up with a venue if we could secure some funding to pay for the lunch. I would really appreciate your help with this.
