Success of a Brighter Future Seminar

The fashion industry is one of the most difficult industries to break into and without knowledge and know-how it can be a very daunting experience for young designers. This innovative workshop was created to review just how this cut-throat commerce can be cracked with the tricks and techniques revealed on running a successful creative business.

Jenny Holloway, Director of Fashion Enter explained, “After many years as a buyer for retailers such as M&S and Principles for Women, then having our own designer collection for ten years, I realised that there is so much creative talent out there but people just don’t know how to get started with a career in fashion. We have designed a short and snappy workshop that helps people understand how to get their business started and what they really need to be a fashion designer today. Who knows perhaps we will find the next Stella McCartney or Alexander McQueen in Croydon!”

The free seminar also included a variety of guest speakers reviewing an extensive array of subjects. How to get your designs on the catwalk and into the shops, working with CMT and manufacturers, building your brand and making sales, effective networking, the importance of press and PR and how to avoid business failure, were all part of the workshop and feedback proved exactly what the students needed to know. The seminar was a huge success. Those who attended ranged from Central St Martins students embarking on a three year fashion design course to MA graduates looking to start their own business to those simply with an interest in the world of fashion.
