Amelia’s Fashion Diary: Why don’t you enter the fashion cupboard my dear?

April 2007
Well it has certainly been a busy Easter weekend. No sooner we have got over stuffing ourselves with chocolate eggs for purely medicinal benefits of course, then we are back into that shopping battle. A prime fighting ground is the floor of the new Oxford Street Primark. Having opened last week, it has already sent us into a frenzy; I mean how can anyone resist simple, cheap chic for the summer?
I know I certainly couldn’t, and went straight down to check out the new store. Let me tell you this summer will mean we can look stylish and sophisticated for a price tag we don’t have to lie about. The days of selective price telling for partners has gone. You can be proud to show them that receipt, rather than try to hide it in a mound at the back of your wardrobe.
Isn’t it strange, however that you feel guilty when you don’t spend enough, and something that I do not spend enough on is my head. Yes, I regularly have my hair cut, but when it comes to accessorising it I seem to be more concerned with my arm accessory (often a large tote) rather than my head. To combat this, and to keep my tangle of locks under control I decided to invest in the latest hair raising accessory, a headband. There are currently so many styles out it can be a little overwhelming, however my favourite has to be simply a silk scarf wrapped round either the front of your head, or used instead of the eighties favourite, and I know you all own one – a scrunchie.
This headband trend works well with the current transitional wardrobe which we are all forced into at the moment. Although coming to the end of its season a simple smock dress seems the best way to keep cool throughout the warm day and warm enough during the chill at night, but be prepared to lop off that extra inch or two as the mini is coming, and my legs are slightly fearful of it.
Even though my legs are not quite ready for their public banter I will still be airing them at The Energie Rock n Roll collection preview 19th April in Selfridges to buy my man a little treat, oh and I might pick up something for myself as well, I mean it is only fair!
