Fashion experts and the media joined friends and families for the end-of-year event staged by graduates of the National Diploma (ND) Fashion & Clothing course, who worked with students from Technical Theatre; providing sound and stage management, Photography and Media who filmed the show, and Beauty Therapy, who provided the hair and make-up expertise for the models.
{mosimage}The Fashion Show included work by the winner of the George Low prize for Best Fashion Student, 17 year old Sophie Hudspith.
Sophie commented: “I have had a wonderful two years at Kingston – and I am thrilled to have won the prize for Fashion, I have learnt so many new skills on the ND Fashion course which have helped me get my place on the BA Hons Fashion Design Course at Kingston University. It has been a great experience!â€
Maia Diver, College course leader, ND Fashion & Clothing, is delighted with the quality and professional standard of the students’ work. “A diploma or other vocational qualification is an excellent grounding for training, further education or employment in fashion, whether students aspire to design itself or perhaps retailing,†says Maia. “Employers support this type of learning, and our students’ recent experience designing t-shirts for Bentalls was a fantastic taste of the real-life world of fashion.
