Amelia’s Fashion Diary:
25-07-2007
Is it me or has the smock dress taken centre stage within our capsule wardrobe this summer? The main attraction has to be the sheer comfort factor, for those fat days all that is needed are wooden accessories, for which The Branch bangles are becoming a particular favourite of mine, and should you need to quickly add length to your body I have found a pair of Missoni platforms do the trick perfectly.
But as with any fashion style we cannot become complacent and alas, must move on, luckily for us comfort does not have to go out of the window as the new more defined shape for winter, the sack dress is here. Top on my winter wish list is a feathered trim Alessandro Dellâ Aqua sack dress, this a simple yet stunning dress which once teamed with a pair of patent black Christian Louboutin ankle boots is the perfect outfit for braving the British weather.
Hopefully the rain will for once stop, as I am slowly starting to loose my patience with these all too frequent showers, not only do they ruin whatever footwear you have decided could possibly be waterproof, of which the only pair I have so far found are my Burberry wellies, but they keep driving you to spend money.
Picture the scene; you are caught in a shower on Oxford Street, so of course it is only natural to run into the nearest shop, of which you in inevitably get distracted, and before you know it somehow you have become a victim of the impulse buyer. No, I did not need a new umbrella, but it will have to be added to my growing collection.
To try and add a bit of sunshine to my life I think I will have to pop down to the Wildlife Works Spring/Summer 08 pre-collection preview. Made at their Kenya Sanctuary, and led by head of design Barry Grainger this collection is something I can’t wait to see.
Green fashion something I am trying to fully embrace in my wardrobe, which is why last year's scarlet jacket from their 06 autumn/winter collection will be making a reappearance on my daily outings to fashion shoots, it never fails to get the assistant noticed!
And to be noticed on a shoot is always nice, most people seem to have this pre-conception that a shoot is all fun and games, when it is more frantic than frolics.
Frenzied model dressing, keeping the bloody steamer filled with water, frequent trips to the local Starbucks, and hoping the model doesn't try to swipe that very expensive ring that seems to take her fancy is all part of the job, not too mention trying to fit over 100 items into the largest travel case in the world is all part of the fun, but to be honest I wouldn't have it any other way, roll on the next shoot!
