LFW: Amanda Wakeley
13-02-2008
{mosimage} Amanda certainly knows how to cut a good frock that
fits and falls in all the right places. Her latest collection was inspired by
the languorous line of 1920’s illustrations by Jean-Gabriel Domergue. Models
were super slick and super lean with a silhouette, for the most part, that was
slinky and narrow on the limbs and more relaxed around the torso. Swing
jackets, cocoon coats and sweater dresses relaxed body-con separates and
skin-tight over-the-knee boots.
Suede, mohair and cashmere added texture against
pearlised leather, chiffon and liquid jersey. Moving into evening models
emerged as warrior princesses as Amanda’s full-length gowns were toughened up
with decorative stud work and armour style beading.
True to form the collection was distinctively Amanda
Wakeley; sensual, confident and luxurious with a nod to contemporary trends and
influences.
