LFW: Vivienne Westwood Red Label

Taking place in a suitably atmospheric warehouse on New
Oxford Street a star studded audience of Erin O Connor, David Walliams, Kelly
Osborne, Peaches Geldof, Lady Victoria Harvey and Gemma Kidd, to name but a
few, sat poised waiting for the show to begin.

 

As manic circus music descended onto our ears, ‘supermodel
of the future’ Lily Donaldson opened the show, shortly accompanied by Daisy
Lowe, Jamie Winstone and Alicia Dellal (end of name dropping!) Truly theatrical
and full of high octane drama London’s first lady of punk did not disappoint.

 

A line up of pinstripe tailoring, tartan kilts, knits, coats
with rounded lapels stamped with the baggy-hemmed, asymmetric hallmarks of the
Westwood classic and short, short dresses with thigh high boots displayed a
collection full to brim of combined influences. An originator of punk, Westwood
drew inspiration from military uniform, disco, silk screen art and the 1960’s,
as rules were dismissed in the collection where anything and everything goes!

 

Although a wonderfully theatrical show with wildly
spectacular hair and make-up, handcuffs chaining feet together and the
obligatory placards with political messages there were also some highly
wearable pieces; a cherry red, raw silk shift dress, a one-shouldered oyster
and black lace dress and a simple yet stunning black mac certainly stood out.

 

All in all I felt truly honoured to have experienced such an
awe inspiring show courtesy of the fashion legend that is Vivienne Westwood.
