Press Preview: The Passion Event

19-02-2008

{mosimage} Passion
is an adventurous new concept, not for the faint-hearted, which allows adults
to share and indulge in their more risqué passions in life. Here at FashionCapital
we were interested in the divine and decedent fashions that accompanied these
passions – of course!

Held
at the equally divine Volupte bar, the venue played host to an evening of
indulgence, decadence, richness and extremes. Betty Paige and Dita Von Teese
would have been proud; the girls adorned their most delicious costumes of
corsets, suspenders, unique bustles, fascinators,
hats and titilators, and not to be out done even some of the men even paid
tribute to the exquisite era of burlesque.

In conversation with some of the dressed up ladies I was
eager to discover who they were wearing. One name that cropped up more than
once was Libby Rose. Libby Rose I learnt was a designer who creates sexy and
seductive clothing to create a lovely feeling when worn. All the garments are
hand made in celebration of the wonderful female form.

Slightly Scarlet by Lulu was another one of the designers
providing the beautiful costumes. Lulu is a designer and maker of unique
bustles, fascinators and mini fascinators and nipple tassels. Every day Lulu
designs and makes her unique creations, “Each
one is unique as I don't enjoy making the same designs twice.” Lulu can be seen
every Friday at Spitalfields market selling her designs.

Rawhide Corsets was another name produces some of the most
renowned avant garde burlesque, couture fetish and fashion wear. Using high
quality materials with an extensive range of leathers, silks and PVC’s and
original designs with specialised workmanship each corset is unique.

The event had a wonderful atmosphere with an appreciation
and genuine love affair for all things burlesque. It certainly made for a
refreshing change to see people making such an effort.
