Boutique SPY 2
20-03-2008
Welcome to this weeks Boutique S.P.Y.
As the name suggests 'Boutique S.P.Y.' is on the look out for the most georgeous boutiques in and around London. Every week we report on the best boutiques we have come across.
London’s Tatty Devine is now in its 17th season and is famous for its unique and quirky accessories, which elevate jewellery to art status through a winning combination of English eccentricity, jumble sale kitsch and traditional craftsmanship.
Inspirations include rock’n’roll, fairy tales, deep-sea creatures, old horror films, flora and fauna and circus sideshows!
The pair behind it all, Rosie Wolfenden and Harriet Vine, have no formal training as jewellers. They met studying Fine Art at Chelsea School Of Art in 1996 and had planned
to become artists until one night Harriet found some bags of fabric samples on the way home from the pub. She made some leather cuffs that she and Rosie sold at London’s famous Portabello and Spitalfields markets, and lo and behold, Tatty Devine was born!
