FashionCapital meets Gok Wan at Bluewater Shopping Centre

07-03-2008

Today FashionCapital was invited to cover a catwalk show held at Bluewater Shopping Centre.  We were all very excited about the prospect of meeting Gok Wan who is synonymous with many women and is a true Style icon to thousands of women across the country.

Sitting in the front row with TV camera's flying in and out made us realize the importance of this show, not only was Gok an amazing presenter but whole reason behind the show was to enable a lovely lady called Nikki to prove to us but most importantly herself that she 'looked good naked!' Yes, this was the last in the series of  'Dare to Bare' How to Look Good Naked' which is filmed on Channel 4.

Fashion-Enter supports this series – we feel that it is imperative that young minds are visually stimulated by the fact that not all women are a size 0 and to be a size 12 up wards is okay is is very normal.  Fashion-Enter have already spoken to Gok's agents and we will be arranging a interview with the man himself so watch this space.

A bit about Gok…

Born in 1974 in Leicester, Gok has worked in the fashion industry for the best part of a decade. Studying at London's prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama, he found himself drawn to hair and make-up over drama, prompting his entrée into the fashion industry and gaining him early work as a hair and make-up artist on titles such as The Sunday Times Style.

Finding himself dissatisfied with beauty alone, however, Gok decided to pursue his love of clothes as a fashion stylist.

Nearly eight years on his talent and tenacity has seen him build up quite a pedigree: he has worked with some of the world's most renowned photographers (Rankin, Mike Owen, Tony McGee, Jason Joyce and Arthur Elgot), had his work published internationally (Glamour, The Face, Cosmopolitan, Afisha Mir and People Magazine US), amassed an enviable celebrity client-base (Bryan Ferry, Vanessa Mae, Damien Lewis and All Saints to name a few) and consulted on a host of television shows including How to Look Good Naked Series 1 & 2, GMTV, BBC1's Battle of The Sexes and Richard and Judy.
