LFW Trend Round Up
12-10-2010
As usual there are a variety of materials, patterns and colors – and it’s put together in a mix’n’match of colorblockings or playfullness with texture.
Or it’s simply dressed down in a minimalistic way as though the items can speak for themselves.
Nothing to hide – seethrough

One of the biggest trends for the season of spring/summer 2011 is the usage of transparent fabrics. These can be seen on a wide selection of clothings from the more commonly use on fully length dresses, tunics and tops to a more unique look when applied on trousers.
In a wide range of colors as well as a mixture of plain and printed fabrics, these fabrics are gorgeous on its own – as shown by many designers, or adds a playful contrast when mixed with a more structured fabric.
Lace – an old classic

To create an ultra feminine and delicate look – lace is the trend to go for.
Best used in dresses or on tops combined with trousers or skirts in a more plain material.
With a mix of fine delicate lace to a 60’s vibe with a rougher lace with bigger patterns.
Combine with a classic jacket for a crisp look or denim or leather for a bit of edge.
It’s all about the details

Burberry – Christopher Kane

Matthew Williamson
Whether it is a fringe on the hemline of your skirt or a leather jacket with studs – it is all about the details. To put a twist to a classic in order to make it unique.

Regardless of what item you go for – make it shine. High gloss satins and silks as well as crispy fabrics with a shiny finish to give a luxurious feel to everything from outerwear to workwear and glamorous nights out. Adding an extra depth to intense colors such as petrol and a crisp touch to white.
A touch of leather

Burberry

Emilio De Morena – Jaeger
As a continuance of the previous seasons usage of leather and synthetics – this trend lingers on yet another season as seen by many designers. As details on the more classic trench or on this seasons leather jackets they match perfectly with the more delicate trends such as see through fabrics and lace. Also seen as leather trousers or as details placed on leggings and skirts.
For the less daring – suede in lovely natural shades have been seen on dresses, trousers and of course accessories.
A splash of color

Basso&Brooke – Matthew Williamson

Christopher Kane
The simplicity of some designers has its opposite in the colorful creations that many designers sent down the runway. A splash of color would be the best way to describe it, since most of them are single pieces with multiple nuances and some others are a combination of one or more colorful items combined in a colorblocking creation.
