George clothing to be sold online from 2008
Asda has been tempted by the coming of age of online shopping in the U.K. with figures out showing that spending per customer is set to grow to £1,056 by 2011 from £606 in 2006, according to Verdict Research. The launch of the George clothing range online follows Marks & Spencer’s recent relaunch of its website. However, with Tesco, who recently tested selling clothes online, failing to commit to launching a full online clothing offer, Asda hoped to take advantage, and steal an early advantage on its rivals.
