URBAN

30-04-2010

URBAN fashion Brazil

The urban themed show is well styled with a fantastic selection of designers showing off their pieces. The idea of these mixed brand shows is that the audience can notice the young urban trends all in one place. This included acid wash denim with baggy print tees, lots of shoulder embellishment and spangly sequins. The must have urban items in Brazil this summer are racer back, long length tees, draped over layers, jungle print trousers, cycling shorts and print leggings.

The colours pivoted around grey, black, tan and golds with flashes of bright colours dotting the prints. There were a few pairs of tacky gold shorts and the models all wore gold hooped earrings… but very young and ‘urban‘.

CHOU CHOU

Chou Chou Brazil Fashion

Chou chou is the younger line from prestigious Brazilian label Patachou. The catwalk was full of bubbly bright accessories, girly ruffles and feminine waists. Prints range from oversized scribbles to ditzy washed out florals with pale stripes and a colour theme that encompassed baby blues and pinks. The swimwear was dark denim with pink neon trim and ruffles. The high waisted skirts gave the show a Parisian feel.

We saw more asymmetric cut dresses, ruffles, tulip skirts and cycle shorts. There was also a few nude pieces, a very now colour. I feel that something needed to be added a certain over the top neon accessories would have helped.

Over all the collection made a cheerful funky show that was a pleasure to watch.

Squadro

Squadro began with yellow shorts, dresses and trousers with nude and navy. There were many boyfriend blazers, teamed with boob tubes, lace trimmed city shorts and cycling shorts. Many of the pieces, especially the hooded jersey items, were very sport luxe.

Many of the looks combined city girl sophistication with a youthful casualness, for example more cycling shorts worn with suit jackets with boob tubes poking out from underneath nude ruffled blazers and dresses. This also managed to slip into the underwear/outerwear trend. There were many more ruffled and asymmetric elements that seem to be a strong trend this week.

Alessa

Alessa Brazil Fashion

Alessa provided a range of gorgeous jewel patterned dresses, all very feminine with the pattern manipulated in size and colour and put through a kaleidoscope. The obvious theme is jewels and opulence and the models exude this with their shimmering mirrored head gear. The show ends and the designer bounds onto the catwalk, literally skipping like a mad woman, bowing so low her hair touches the floor. Mad, but very endearing and a great collection.

Marcellu Ferraz

The catwalk has a strip of lights running through the centre and the first model comes out shrouded in darkness except for these. When he reaches the end of the runway the lights come up and we see a baseball cap and tiny shiny swimming trunks. The menswear collection is mainly blue and white with blue patterns on white. This collection is different and so exciting compared to everything else we’ve seen. There are mesh jumpsuits, trimmed with blue suede, de-constructed blazers, chain braces holding up see through white patterned shorts and more chains hanging from necks and belt loops. We see a sparkly hooded jacket with another tiny pair of trunks, short nautical white shorts, tie dye t shirts, acid washed tees and amazingly a long white, patterned gown.

Suede or suede look material seems to be a big feature in this show with it being made into shorts, tees, leggings, trousers and trims. One feature was a wrap around brown belt with a silver armoured shoulder. Deconstruction is a theme with torn bad-boy sleeves and ripped blazers are worn open. This is all paired well with high top metallic neon trainers and a mixture of chain jewellery and trucker caps.

The models… Well this is where the sexy Brazilian men that I’ve been warned about have been hiding, obviously. Oiled up and with their hair in retro 60’s sweeps with crazy colours dyed in this has the feeling of a more hardcore, modern-day Grease. An amazing collection, and definitely a favourite so far.

Vector

Vector Brazil Fashion

The theme for this show was ‘vector’.  This included designers such as Baton Blue, Patachou, Fabiano Milazzo and many more. There were many sharply cut shapes that looked fantastic! Favourite pieces were Fabiano Milazzo’s tulip dress with cut out v neck and metallicc lace insert, Patricia Mottas leather, laser cut petal dresses and Mardreperola’s square petal tab dresses. Themes seemed to be white and innovation with laser cut patterns and studs. The colour palette was mainly white melting into a pastel wash of pale green, blue and turquoise.

Faven

Faven Brazil Fashion

Faven brought us a gorgeous collection with a set of neon orange broken chairs piled in the middle of the runway. The show began with floral dresses, ruffled and asymmetric, with tight pencil skirts and ruffled over skirts as well as crochet detail and draping. The show moves on to green khaki crochet, with cardigans and dresses in the style. We also see a green pair of dungarees – we are seeing a lot of dungarees this season – a step forward from the play suit. The models are all wearing universally popular clogs with white lace ankle socks.

Still in line with trends the collection adds a zig-zag green and orange pattern into the mix that comes in dresses, skirts and cardigans all cinched at the waist with a tied brown belt. The garments change from their green crochet, to white and then layers of foamy white lace and net are upon us in fluffy skirts, mini dresses and a beautiful cardigan. This collection has a very traditional spring summer feel to it and has all the trends we expect to see for Brazilian summer.

Iodice Denim

Iodice Denim Brazil Fashion

Iodice Denim open the show with a traditionally summery piece, blue denim shorts, white slogan tee and red baggy shirt over the top. This isn’t a ground breaking catwalk, but it is wearable and enjoyable and uses all the trends that we are seeing emerging this week. For example big bold floral prints with leopard print accessories, racer back tees and ditzy florals as well. There are many creased dresses that look light and easy to wear. Perfect for the coming summer but rocked up with denim waistcoats and leather jackets.

Another great collection to finish a day of shows.

Tomorrow is the last day of shows, it should be exciting!
