Public sector reductions begin to impact jobs

July saw weaker rises in both permanent and temporary appointments according to the KPMG and Recruitment and Employment Confederation report on jobs. The amount of fresh permanent appointments grew at 24.4% in comparison to 28% in June while the number of job vacancies rose at the slowest speed level in the last eight months. Bernard Brown head of business services at KPMG warned that the report was a sign of things to come’ as the public sectors as preparing for even more spending cuts which are ‘likely to impact the job market further’
