The London Designer Outlet will have 85 designer factory shops, 15 restaurants and a nine-screen Cineworld complex with 18,000 seats and is due to open in 2013.
The 350,000 square feet of shopping space has already signed contracts with 8 outlets, including an anchor tenant who is described as “a major international apparel retailer”. This could be someone like GAP.
Nick Shattock, deputy chief executive of Quantain the property developer behind the LDO, uses the American phrase “swell and dwell” to describe the project.
He said: “Guys come to watch sport at the stadium, girls come to shop. We are expecting 6.5million visitors a year to the LDO and something like 21million a near to the entire Wembley City.”
Quintain said the LDO lettings were a key stage in the 3 year recovery plan it announced in June.
