Alexander McQueen
11-02-2011
He was renowned for his unique creations such as his signature skull motif which became catwalk to high street and his very popular scarf designs were a must-have. He had flawless tailoring skills and his credible theatrical catwalk shows were one to remember which included impressive designs from butterflies, wings and birdcages.
McQueen’s designs were a popular choice of A-Lister’s including Sarah Jessica Parker and Lady Gaga and many were seen flaunted down the red carpet.
His impressive creations were a mixture of fashion and art and paved the runways and catwalks with fashion brilliance for years and continue to do so under new management. And at the mark of the one year anniversary of his death, his worldwide recognised label just keeps getting better. As the creative designer, Sarah Burton shows with the successful Spring/Summer 2011 collection.
Sarah worked with McQueen for 14 years so knows the background behind his creations and designs very well which has also given her the unique flair and guidance to design fabulous collections. And as Alexander McQueen’s sales continue to grow she must have been taught well.
Mila Kunis wore a unique and colourful Alexander McQueen design for the 2011 SAG Awards which had everyone talking and made the actress beam on the red carpet.
Lady Gaga has paid tribute to the designer who passed away on February 11 2010, with the release of her new highly anticipated single, Born This Way. The celebrity was a huge fan of his creations and was pictured wearing many of his cutting-edge designs.
The fashion genius will continue to be remebered for his significant role in the fashion industry and I am sure we will not be disappointed with what Sarah Burton has to offer in the future.
