When William met Kate
15-02-2011

And it has been released that the significant statement dress which helped Kate bag her prince is going up for auction. The see-through dress is certainly eye-catching so it is no wonder she caught the eye of husband-to-be Prince William.
Kate wore the dress during a charity fashion show at St Andrews University in Scotland. The lace dress is expected to be sold for up to £10,000 when it goes on sale next month. Kate was 20 at the time of the fashion show in 2002 and she must have made an impression on the Prince wearing the transparent dress and black underwear.

William paid £200 for a front row ticket for the show for a glimpse of Kate and some even suggest that it was this night he also made his first move on his bride-to-be.
Kate’s dress was designed by 31-year-old Charlotte Todd, a fashion and textile student in 2000 at the University of the West of England in Bristol. The dress took around a week to make and was originally meant to be a skirt. Two years later, Charlotte was invited to showcase her dress for the annual St. Andrews charity fashion show and Kate was picked to model the dress.
“If it is true that my design helped change the Prince’s interest in Kate to from platonic to romantic as has been reported, then I am pleased to have played a part – however minor.”
The auction is to be held in central London on March 17th and the auction will also include two gowns worn by William’s mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
William and Kate will get married at Westminster Abbey in London on 29th April.
