Emilio De la Morena – AW11
22-02-2011
The collection continued with this cubic theme with jacket and skirt combos with panels of metalic red, black and white. The jackets also featured quilited arms and were cut just below the waist, above knee length pencil skirts going back to the 1940’s trend that has been prominant this season. This was also hinted at with the turtle necklines. Layering was a strong element in this show with knee length skirts featuring under skirts of lace to the mid calf. The paneling, structural boning and layering continued through the collection using these square panels instead of prints. Crochet was also seen on the runway in a full black crochet dress underneath a small jumper. Finally were two seemingly random flashes of nude in a skirt and and top. This didnt seem to fit with the basic colour pallete of red, black and white – how ever there were also a few earlier features of purple that also seemed a little strange.
One favourite piece was a red mid-calf dress with a gathered ruffled back starting from the thigh – this was a gorgeous example of the designers skill.
