The show ran from the 20-22 February at the NEC where a number of first time exhibitors attended including Iron Fist, Deakins, Original Penguin, Bamboo A, Keds, Po-Zu and WedgeWelly. Nick Jackson, UK managing director of Iron Fist agreed that the show was a success and hope to return next season. “This was out first time at Moda Footwear and I can honestly say it was one of the best shows we’ve done this season, either in the UK or overseas. We took orders from every corner of England, Scotland and Ireland and opened up some overseas accounts, one from as far afield as Australia.”

US label Sketchers were also impressed with the turn-out of the show. “Having been away from the show for a few seasons it was great to see how many new names are now taking part in Moda Footwear, and we had a fantastic response to our new fall line.”

Ermes Stefanutto, UK and Ireland country manager at Geox said, “We had another fantastic result at Moda, and the team received very positive feednack on new concepts such as the Amphibiox Waterproof and Energy Walk lines.

Joe Disco, UK sales manager for Stride Rite Childrens Group also commented on the success of the show. “In addition to providing a showcase for our portfolio of brands the show also gave us an important opportunity to establish meaningful new business with accounts in the UK and Ireland. We’re already looking forward to spring/summer 12 edition in August this year.”

This season saw important independents across the UK and Ireland attend the show including Edwards of Manchester, Plum Soles in Derby, Psyche in Middlesbrough, Oi Polloi in Manchester, as well as national accounts such as Fenwick, Urban Outfitters and Jones Bootmaker.

Moda Footwear event director Sean O’Conner comments; “The feedback from the show has been excellent across all categories, with both regular exhibitors and new brands reporting healthy orders from high quality buyers. With a high number of new brands showing this season we had what was undoubtlebly the most exciting line-up to date, and the quality and variety of brands and visitors served to underline Moda Footwear’s position as the key event for all areas of the footwear industry.”
