You are accordingly invited to The Oonagh Boman Make-up Excellence Awards 2011 sponsored by Senna Cosmetics. Christopher O’Reilly, Director of House of Hannigan and Head of fcMenswear, was commissioned in early June to create an American Independence Day dress inspired by the Union Jack dress from his 2010/11 collection. The brief was for something amazing for press photos and the grand finale of the catwalk show of the awards. The awards are for former students of The Oonagh Boman School of Make-up who have been out in the industry for the past four years or more.

10:30 – Back at the Ivory, Music Blasting and choreography looks great! After a short meet and greet it’s the time I have been waiting for, for over a month now… Straight backstage and get model Gemma McCorry into my Dress. Feathers everywhere… must remember to inner line anything with a feather stuffing with something not woven so loosely.

11:00 – Gemma Looks AMAZING!!! Oonagh seems impressed, Tracey Hall (Director of Style Academy) seems worried… Dress rehearsal in order to see how she can fit my massive dress through the crowd and onto the stage.

11:30 – Listening to Oonagh go over her speech (Sounds perfect!) while in the background I can see the show coming together. The stage is nearly half constructed and the tables have been laid out. Its all getting there.

Press Call Shoot on the roof of The Ivory Restaurant.

5:30 – 7:00 – Bit of a haze… got a bit too excited at the press call. Presenter Julian Simmons has just arrived. A bit start struck but playing it cool. He’s been presenting on UTV since I was small and now I’m back stage with him at an event that I have made a dress for!!! Good Times!

7:00 – Tux on, teeth brushed and ready to go mingle.

8:00 – 11:00 – Found my seat and the show begins. Everything/one looks amazing. Each look was styled by Sara O’Neill to go with the different finalists make-up concepts. Then the grand finally music starts and the pin up girl’s come out on stage and start their routine. As if by magic my dress appears from the back of the room and demands the whole everybody’s attention!!! It was Amazing!! I felt famous!

Dinner time. Pretty tasty. Time for a beer… Next thing I know Oonagh Boman is stood over me telling me that the guest of honour and founder of Senna Cosmetics Eugenia Weston who’s celebrity clients include Angelina Jolie and Bette Midler loved my dress and wants to meet me.

Eugenia was so humble and down to earth. We talked about work, dreams and goals. Her career is an inspiration. She told me that if I want It then I can have It!! She also signed the table name card for me with the quote “All Good Things”.

Then, as a climax to the evening, Oonagh Boman took to the stage to present the awards. The whole evening she looked like pure elegance but on stage giving awards to former students of The Oonagh Boman School of Makeup she was simply glowing. You could tell that she was proud of all of them and their achievements like they were her own children. Finally, Eugenia took the floor and presented the award the whole night was about. Congratulations Ashley Morhej for all of your hard work!!!
