Diary of The Oonagh Boman Make
12-07-2011

You are accordingly invited to The Oonagh Boman Make-up Excellence Awards 2011 sponsored by Senna Cosmetics. Christopher O’Reilly, Director of House of Hannigan and Head of fcMenswear, was commissioned in early June to create an American Independence Day dress inspired by the Union Jack dress from his 2010/11 collection. The brief was for something amazing for press photos and the grand finale of the catwalk show of the awards. The awards are for former students of The Oonagh Boman School of Make-up who have been out in the industry for the past four years or more.

Event Day
7am – Waking up in the morning, Gotta be fresh… Showered and ready.
To Do – Pick up tux, press dress (I hope Oonagh likes it.), Be at The Ivory at 10:30.
9:15 – Decorator has arrived to paper mums guest bathroom. Time to leave.

9:50 – Arrived at The Ivory to drop off dress and check out the location. Preparations look well under way. Off for a coffee with my mum and then back for 10:30
10:30 – Back at the Ivory, Music Blasting and choreography looks great! After a short meet and greet it’s the time I have been waiting for, for over a month now… Straight backstage and get model Gemma McCorry into my Dress. Feathers everywhere… must remember to inner line anything with a feather stuffing with something not woven so loosely.

11:00 – Gemma Looks AMAZING!!! Oonagh seems impressed, Tracey Hall (Director of Style Academy) seems worried… Dress rehearsal in order to see how she can fit my massive dress through the crowd and onto the stage.

5:00 – Guest of honour Eugenia Weston or Senna Cosmetics arrives.
5:30 – Press Call!!! Dress back on and ready to go. Photos look Amazing!!!

5:30 – 7:00 – Bit of a haze… got a bit too excited at the press call. Presenter Julian Simmons has just arrived. A bit start struck but playing it cool. He’s been presenting on UTV since I was small and now I’m back stage with him at an event that I have made a dress for!!! Good Times!
7:00 – Tux on, teeth brushed and ready to go mingle.

Overall it was an Amazing event an opportunity for me to get out and show people what I can do! Thank you Oonagh Boman for thinking of me for this event and I hope we can collaborate again in the future.

My dress got a half of a page in The Mirror on Saturday.
