London Fashion Week – Ashley Isham Autumn/Winter 2012

20-02-2012

Despite a late start and complications with the music, Isham produced a stunning and memorable show. Inspired by the “city girl with a passion for clean line”, Isham approached classic garments and revived them with a contemporary edge. Favouring contemporary statement dresses and tailoring.

Glamour was the main focus of the show; all the outfits consisted of skirts and dresses. With the exception of the opening outfit, a sheer lace cape layered over leather cigarette trouser. The colour palette was striking patriot blue, emerald, fig, black iris, carmine pink, smoked pearl and antique gold. Models were styled urban/ladylike; with hair scraped back, distinct dark eyes and classic red lipstick appearing feminine but also fierce.

Isham’s signature long draped dresses dominated the catwalk in jewel colours, renewed with asymmetric necklines, statement belts and leather panels. The effeminate clothes were emphasised by the choice of fabric french lace, delicate sequins, silks, stretch velvet and floral prints disrupted by flashes of matte leather.
