Become a Garment Technologist at New Look

New Look is a popular high street retailer that can be seen on most busy high streets across the UK. Womenswear, teenwear, menswear, footwear and accessories all feature across 1000 stores worldwide including the UK and Republic of Ireland, Europe, the Middle East, Singapore, Russia and Poland. Last year alone 355 million customers visited New Look either online or in one of our stores, making it one of the most visited fashion websites around.
New Look has regularly won awards for clothing and footwear and is today the number two womenswear and accessories retailer by value in the UK, with 5.8% market share. New Look is also very much concentrated on ethical trading and animal welfare, along with committing to protect the environment by reducing the amount of waste that is produced and using less energy.
New Look’s quality mission statement is to reinforce New Look’s ‘Value for Money’ proposition through improved and consistent quality that exceeds customer expectations.
Quality assurance is very important to New Look, through all stages of producing a garment. A product needs to meet the standards of the target customer, in order to retain customers and bring new ones into stores.
There are three key principles that New Look works with: The appearance in store, the fit of the garment and the durability of the garment.
As a Garment Technologist, the apprentinces will be involved with applying these three principles to each garment, in any deparment.
As a Garment Technologist, the job role will include:
- Design packs
- Fit sessions
- Test reports
- Customer returns analysis
It will allow the apprentices to work over a lot of departments:
- Ladieswear – dresses / blouses / tailoring / denim / jersey / knitwear
- Menswear – t shirts / denim / smart / tailoring
- 9-15 – all depts
- Footwear – ladies / mens / 9-15
- Accessories – bags / belts / gloves / scarves/ sunglasses cosmetics

New Look has selected the four candidates that will be taking part in the fabulous Fashion and Textiles Apprenticeship. The four candidates went through a rigorous interview process to gain the positions where they will be earning and learning!
One candidate, Iga, who heard today that she had got the position said:
