Schools Engagement Programme: Highgate Wood School

17-07-2013

The programme is part of the Employers Ownership Programme with Huddersfield Textile Centre of Excellence and the Group Training Association which aims to raise awareness of the many apprenticeship opportunities available in the fashion sector.

Yesterday (16th July) it was the turn of Highgate Wood School, a Specialist Arts College based in North London. 79 students attended the informative talk with Jenny Holloway, plus Ankita Patel and Anna Falconer from ASOS. The talk covered the fashion and textiles apprenticeship programme, the pre-apprenticeship scheme and the Design Life Cycle. This is in association with Employer Ownership of Skills Pilot Programme with Huddersfield Centre of Excellence.

It was fantastic to see a broad range of interest and enthusiasm in fashion from the students; from the younger students in Years 7, 8 and 9 working on Design and Technology projects to the older Sixth Formers taking the Textiles A-level route. Many of these students are looking to enter into a career of fashion and this is where the Schools Engagement Programme can inform and assist in making those decisions.
