LFW S/S 14: Bernard Chandran

13-09-2013

Fabrics were of a loud lurex glittery, garish and colourful substance. Something you’d almost find at Christmas rather than summer. However, while the party frocks were garish and in-your-face they certainly got your attention, with cut-outs of the asymmetric kind, thigh-high skimming hems and ruffles at dropped waists and high necklines.

This collection was definitely for the eclectic kind, show-stopping outfits that you could envisage the likes of Katy Perry wearing. Every colour of the rainbow could be seen and Chandran stuck to the foil like fabric like glue with subtle hints of other metallic fibres, it was a unique collection; colourful and perfect for a party.

Embellishment centred on the neckline in the form of a harness-like structure adding edge to the girly frocks. Beading also featured in rose-like swirls on the body of dresses adding depth and variety to the outfits.

Chandran closed the show with a floor-length silver gown accessorised with glittery headphones and an iPod gripped firmly in the models hand, how geek chic 2014 style.
