Christopher Bailey to Replace Angela Ahrendts at Burberry

Burberry’s chairman Sir John Peace confirmed that Christopher Bailey will replace her in the middle of next year, and Bailey would retain his role as Chief Creative Officer in a video announcement.

Christopher and Angela have worked alongside each other for the past decade and throughout this time the British fashion house has been transformed into a digital luxury brand, with Angela commenting in the video of the ‘rock solid foundation’ the two created together to renovate the brand into a ‘digital luxury retailer’. Christopher confirmed that he will take any additional responsibilities and the pair will work very closely together to be sure of a perfect transition.
In the video announcement which can be watched on YouTube, which was promoted through the fashion labels social media outlets, showcases Ahrendts praising Christopher Bailey and saying that she will be at peace leaving Burberry in his capable hands.
Christopher Bailey who commented on his new role said that he is extremely humbled to be asked to take on the CEO role at the company that means so much to him, and believes that ‘creativity’ and ‘innovation’ have been the roads which led to all of their success in the last ten years and will continue to be the reason of success in the next decade too.
Angela Ahrendts added that Burberry is in good shape, having built the industry’s most powerful management team, state of the art technology infrastructure, sensational brand momentum and one of the most closely connective creative cultures today.
Sir John Peace who led the announcement interview, thanked Ahrendts for building a great culture and leading the company through the incredible transformation over these past eight years. He also stated that he has no doubts whatsoever about Bailey’s vision and leadership, and that he would keep Burberry on the forefront digitally, financially and creatively.
