Coming Soon…My Name is Paul Smith

The Paul Smith fashion exhibition will be taking place 15th November 2013 until 9th March 2014 at the Design Museum, London. The event will be celebrating four decades of designer menswear by one of Britain’s best known designers, Sir Paul Smith.

Paul Smith is a highly recognised fashion designer worldwide. He was introduced to the world of fashion when he left school at the age of 14. He met many new people as the years went on including many art students who were very ambitious about joining the fashion world. It wasn’t long after that his own designs were being worn by celebrities and he was  making a name for himself in British Fashion.

The event, which will be attended by many Paul Smith fans, will display classic designs from his memorable collections from the past 40 years. At the event, the individual designs of his shops will also be featured, showing how far the designer has come since opening his first store in Nottingham in 1970.

GQ Magazine described Paul Smith’s designs as “Englishness combined with an unexpected twist” and when the Telegraph commented on the up-and-coming show, they said that the show will “explore a year in the different stages of design, production and marketing” by viewing his range of catwalk collections.

Mens designer clothing specialists, Jonathan Trumbull, are very excited about the event and are looking forward to the opening to see what fashion statements from the last forty years have made the cut. Jamie Beavis, Marketing Manager at Jonathan Trumbull, said: “We’re very much looking forward to paying many visits to the Design Museum. I think it’s a brilliant venue to display Paul Smith’s work from his very successful career. I can’t wait to see what fashion trends show up in the collection.”

The Design Museum where the event will be held is located on the banks of the Thames and has two floors, which are frequently used to display artworks and contemporary design pieces. Usually, there are many forms of art in the Design Museum including fashion, architectural and graphical.
