Ghesquière Replaces Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton

nicolasReplacing Marc Jacobs, who only weeks ago departed after 14 years at the brand, the announcement was made via the Louis Vuitton official Twitter account. Plain and simple with a black and white photo of Ghesquière, the twitpic was captioned “Louis Vuitton is thrilled to welcome Nicolas Ghesquière as artistic director of the women’s collections”

Speculations over the former creative director of Balenciaga joining LVMH was high once Jacobs confirmed he was leaving the fashion house to focus on his own lines.

The designer, renown and recognisable for his sharp silhouettes and play on textures, spent 15 years at Balenciaga and was replaced by Alexander Wang last year. His former fashion house is currently suing over a breach of confidentiality, when Ghesquière spoke negatively of the fashion house in an interview earlier this year.

This time speaking of his delight, Nicolas commented on joining the French brand; “I am very honoured of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great maison. We share common values and a vision.”

Ghesquière will show his first collection at the french luxury brand next March.
