Menkes, is known throughout the industry for her staunch work ethic and will regularly attend shows by up and coming designers as well as established brands.
However, don’t think that Menkes is stepping down to retire. The catwalk copy queen is to jump ship to Conde Nast as a critic and reporter on all the international Vogue websites. Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman and Chief Executive of Conde Nast International announced that Menkes new job title will be ‘International Vogue Editor’.
Readers will be able to read copy from Menkes spanning the Vogue websites which includes: Britain, France, Italy, China, Russia, Japan, Germany and Spain.
“I am thrilled to become International Vogue Editor at Condé Nast International, which has a real commitment to journalistic excellence, and to have the opportunity to write for a wider global audience through the Vogue websites,” Menkes said in a statement released today.
“I am grateful to have spent 25 years at the International Herald Tribune – a newspaper where I had unstinting support in being able to express myself freely and honestly. I feel this is the perfect time to embrace a new challenge in the digital age.”
As of yet no date has been set for Menkes new role, although Condé Nast mentioned that she will take a lead role in organising an annual conference devoted to the luxury goods industry for company.
