BFC Announce NewGen Men’s Winners

With the schedule of London Collection: Men S/S 15 set to be released next week, the build up of which designers are the ‘ones to watch’ is growing.
The NewGen scheme which was launched in 2009 has previously supported the likes of J.W Anderson, Sibling and Christopher Shannon in setting up and establishing their brands. The committee which is made up of a number of industry professionals, including Damian Paul of matchesfashion.com, Darren Sky, Harvey Nichols and Gordon Richardson of Topman are responsible for scouting and naming the best of British talent and awarding those with funding.
The winners will receive financial support courtesy of Topman and support in showcasing their collections during London Collections: Men S/S1 5. As well as ongoing business support to help them in taking their business to the next level.
This year’s, newly announced winners are:
Agi & Sam, Astrid Anderson, Lee Roach, Matthew Miller, Common, Diego Vanassibara, Kit Neale, Nasir Mazhar. While the 8 announced winners are no strangers to the NewGen support, two new and up-coming designers have also being awarded the funding and support, Alex Mullins and Craig Green.
Mullins who previously has worked for the likes of Jeremy Scott and Alexander Mcqueen is delighted to be part of the scheme commenting, “I am absolutely thrilled to be part of NewGen Men. I will be joining a long line of the UK’s most forward thinking and cutting edge designers.”
With Green, who in the past has received support from Topman’s Man initiative adding “It is an incredible honour. The support is an incredibly valuable tool in allowing me to progress my business, who which I am very grateful.”
Caroline Rush, executive of BFC commented on the naming of the two upcoming designers to receive funding, saying “We’re delighted to welcome Craig Green and Alex Mullins, two of London’s most exciting and emerging names. They represent a generation of extraordinary menswear talent, that with continuous and generous support from Topman are already becoming globally recognised names.”
