Trending Now

katies_fashion_fairground_logoWith seasons interchanging at such an expeditious speed, it can occasionally be a minefield to know what to wear, and with so many trends to consider, fashion constantly keeps us on our toes. Summer is fast approaching, and so it’s time to wrap winters trends up for another year and focus on sunny style solutions that are trending now. With a vast miscellany of fashions to embrace, including big brave patterns, bold hues, old-school sweaters, new denims, rock’n’roll fringing, logos and lady-like pleats, there is no inadequacy of variation this season. And there’s more…

Drenched in head-to-toe primaries and colour-block brights, a glorious psychedelic clash of rainbow hues exploded onto the Spring/Summer 2014 catwalks. With an amazing juxtaposition of multicoloured lavishness, Miuccia Prada’s colour-burst collection unleashed a splash of vibrant reds, blues and yellows, which were worn in single shades as well as technicolour combinations. What better way to step into summer in new-season shocking statement hues, as seen on Alberta Ferretti that will guarantee to get noticed, making every outfit pop. Chanel and Emilio Pucci’s palettes were mixed to the max, suitable for statement-worthy occasions, whilst Emilia Wickstead translated the trend from day to night via paintbox hues that were seen in simple separates.

Nothing says feminine, fresh and fierce then summer whites. The designers motto for this season was to cleanse and tone with crisp whites and clean cuts, and no one executed the trend more effectively then Erdem. Accomplishing a complete contrast to the eye-popping, rainbow trend, virgin whites were pale, pretty and seen in precision-cut shapes that brought a new purity to spring/summer dressing. Whether styles paraded lace, sheer, appliqué or embroidery, Erdem showcased an eclectic mix of fabrics and textures to awaken the dreamy all-white palette. To toughen up the tranquil trend, chunky footwear and chain-link chokers were added, conveying an edgy twist that appeared wonderfully unexpected. Michael Kors hooked onto the infectiously wistful look with all white attires that displayed a softer and romantic attitude, with sharp tailoring combined with soft and fluid lines.

If you’re looking for summer’s glossiest style solution, look no future then the high-shine metallic trend. The ever-popular look of last season has shimmered its way back into its deserving limelight with sculpting shimmering fabrics and body-skimming looks. The result is pure fashion alchemy. Designers glimmered with glee; statement silvers came courtesy of Antonio Berardi and Balmain; winning trophy-golds were awarded to Dries Van Noten and Dolce & Gabbana; and futuristic iridescents lit up Tom Ford’s and Marc by Marc Jacob’s collections. The highest impact of them all came parading down Lanvin’s runways, as foils, Lurex and glittering leathers glistened in wonderful Quality Street hues. Gorgeous greens, beautiful blues, gleaming golds and radiant reds all contributed to the Monte Carlo discotheque essence.
