John Rocha Says Farewell to the Catwalk
In a press statement Rocha comments: “It is almost thirty years since I showed my collection at London Fashion Week… But now it is time for me to explore new challenges. And so I have decided that from September, I will no longer present a collection at London Fashion Week, and that even though I am so happy with the wonderful response to my A/W 14 collection, sadly it will be my last.”
However, don’t expect Rocha to be putting his feet up in the Bahamas quite yet. The designer has confirmed that he plans to continue with his successful business and will continue his design work with collaborative partners on the high street in crystal and in eyewear alongside new projects in architecture and interiors.
FashionCapital editor JoJo Iles responded to the news with this comment: “I have been reporting from London Fashion Week for over ten years and John Rocha always presented a clear, signature vision that combined hand-crafted techniques and exquisite fabrics in strong, exaggerated forms. His designs appeal to women of all ages and I personally know that his presence will be missed but I am sure his daughter, up and coming designer, Simone Rocha will continue to take the family name forward while John takes a back seat.”
