London Live is a 24hour TV channel dedicated to the Capital.

Reporter John Naylor from London Live arrived at The Factory to conduct filming and interviews. Head of Learning and Development, Wendy Coley was next interviewed on the Fashion Technical Academy. Speaking on the current skillsgap in the manufacturing industry, Wendy has seen and contributed firsthand the work Fashion Enter has put into the industry in training up young people and bringing manufacturing back to the UK. Wendy touched on the case studies and success stories of past students on the existing courses, why Haringey is such a perfect location – due to its reputation of being a “manufacturing hotspot”, and the local contacts and partnerships, of which the progress made would not have been possible without, including Social Business Trust, Haringey Council, ASOS, Creative Skillset and ABC Awards.

Focusing on what the Academy will offer and exactly what students will receive from the training and qualifications, John then moved on to interview a number of Stitching Academy students and Level 3 apprentices that have completed and benefitted from Fashion Enter’s current training opportunities.

Focusing on what the students aspire to do after completing their course, Shana, Fashion Enter’s production apprentice, and a Stitching Academy graduate mentioned how the course had helped in kick-starting her future career of being a fashion designer. “I can see first-hand the processes that go into garment construction, I had no idea how to create a pattern or use a sewing machine!”

The report will be live between 6am – 9am tomorrow morning (24/07/14)
