Fashion Scout’s Ones to Watch SS16
Chosen by a panel of 50 industry experts, the Ones to Watch designers will present their new collections in a catwalk showcase and will also be a part of Fashion Scout’s designer exhibition.
Anita Hirlekar launched her Iceland-based luxury womenswear label after graduating from Central Saint Martins MA Fashion Textiles in 2014. Her innovative fabrications combined with her unique handcrafted skill and high fashion sensibility has led to much high-profile recognition, including a handbag collaboration with Bvlgari.
Joon-Sik Shin, designer of London-based womenswear label J S Shin graduated from the London College of Fashion, Fashion Design Technology Womenswear in 2015. With a background and experience in Italian tailoring, the designer applies conceptual ideas and inspiration to contemporary womenswear. Shin’s signature lies in handcraft and luxury tailoring.
Originally from China, now New York-based Leaf Xia graduated from Parsons the New School of Design in 2015. Focusing on colours, print and strong silhouettes, the designer specialises in collage and creates bold and playful designs.
Design duo Central Saint Martins MA graduate Seun Ade-Onojobi and London College of Fashion graduate Sonia Xiao are the designers behind the conceptual streetwear brand Typical Freaks. With many items printed or painted by hand, the pair create eccentric garments full of creativity, humour and craftsmanship.
“Fashion Scout SS16 provides another amazing opportunity to scout, showcase and support four new emerging Ones to Watch designers from around the globe,” said Fashion Scout Director Martyn Roberts.
“The combination of four designers, chosen from countries as diverse as China and Iceland promises our most exciting season ever.”
The SS16 showcase marks Fashion Scout’s 19th season and will be held at Freemasons Hall, from 18 – 22 September.
