Three Top Model Agencies Under Investigation
The big three include Premier Model Management, Models 1 and Storm Model Management which represent many of the UK’s well-known faces such as Yasmin Le Bon, Erin O’Connor, Naomi Campbell (pictured right) and Kate Moss. Over the weekend (15/16 August) investigators seized computer equipment and files of paperwork from the three London based agencies.
The investigation reportedly began back in March following accusations that they were working as a secret cartel driving fashion models fees sky high. High street retailers and well-known brands are keen to bring modelling fees down, as the e-commerce side of the business requires new stock to be photographed on a model on a frequent basis.
According to the CMA the case is at an early stage and no assumption should be made that there has been an infringement of competition law. A decision to proceed or close the investigation will be made in October. If the agencies are found guilty, they could face fines of up to 10 percent of their international profit.
