Another Impressive Line Up, Boasts London Fashion Week

12-09-2006

When British Fashion Council’s CEO Hilary Riva was appointed last December, she aimed at realising the true value of LFW and promoting the British Fashion in the best way possible. Riva planned to achieve this by September 06. This season’s catwalk shows seem to keep the promise. With some big names on schedule as well as established British designers and auspicious newcomers, there are great expectations to this year’s shows.

Italian designer label Armani is scheduled to show this year whilst we also see the return of two British classics, the iconic seventies label Biba and the eccentric British designer Zandra Rhodes. Biba will run its catwalk debut and Rhodes returns to the catwalk after an absence of nearly 20 years.

Paul Smith Women, Aquascutum and Julien Macdonald are showing their collections as well as New Generation award-winning designers Christopher Kane and Newcomer Todd Lynn. Young talented designers from all over the world are attracted to the UK in order to benefit from the BFC New Generation awards or the Fashion Fringe award. They can use LFW as a launching pad to start an international career.

Due to developments that have taken place over the past years, London is still the place to see creative and expressive fashion talent across the board. London Fashion Week is showing from September 18-22 at its tents at the Natural History Museum and other venues across London, On/Off catwalk shows are scheduled for September 18-20, hosted by the Royal Horticultural Halls, Vincent Square SW1. The Exhibition @ LFW is open September 19-22 at the Natural History Museum, SW7. Further information is available at: www.londonfashionweek.co.uk
