Five Quick Questions with Design Duo Belle & Bunty

21-09-2006

Since designing the clothing range for LFW sponsor Red Bull in 2003, these London College of Fashion graduates have gone from strength to strength. I went to ask Alice Shreeve (Belle) and Hannah Coniam (Bunty) some questions about how they are getting on.

Q What are the key trends for next season?

B&B “We created a collection inspired by springtime in the great outdoors, nature and long days spent in the countryside.

This season we have again focused on dresses, particularly romantic style dresses which you can wear them anytime. We have evening dresses, colourfully printed daytime picnic dresses and jersey wrap dresses. Describe your design style: Our clothing is designed to be flattering, feminine and simple. The best thing about our dresses is that you can just throw them on and your outfit is complete. The result is a comfortable, fashionable look instantly.”

Q How has fashion week gone so far?

B&B “It’s been brilliant. Our dresses are definitely our bestseller; the buyers seem to love them. We have sold to new buyers this season, which is very encouraging.”

Q When are you hitting the catwalk again?

B&B “Probably next year. It’s all or nothing. If we run a show, we want to turn heads and offer the audience something special. This year we chose to spend the money on other things.”

Q Where can we find Belle & Bunty?

B&B “We stock to various places in London, including Fenwicks and the Sanderson Hotel boutique. We also have stockists worldwide, In the US, Greece, Japan and particularly in Ireland.”

Q What’s going on in the future with Belle & Bunty?

B&B “We’re going to be concentrating on the next collection. We have a lot of celebrities spotted wearing our clothes, which generates a lot of good press. There’s a documentary coming out about the label “Tricky Business” on Channel 4 next month.”
