micol ragniCollaborating with Fashion Scout, the designer platform that runs alongside London and Paris Fashion Week, designers and UCA graduates Micol Ragni, James Kelly and Hannah Williams will showcase their Spring/Summer 2016 collections as emerging designers to the international fashion industry.

2011 graduate Micol Ragni (design pictured left) will be showing her Spring/Summer 2016 collection titled Dark Funk in the Fashion Scout showroom in Paris from the 1st – 6th October. Italian born Micol moved to the UK to study and has interned with Julien McDonald, Louise Goldin and Christopher Kane among others.

Micol’s designs focus on silhouettes, structures and volumes inspired by mathematics, secret geometry and numerology.

Womenswear designer James Kelly graduated from UCA in 2012 and showcased his designs with Fashion Scout for the second year running, after winning the Fashion Scout Merit Award and taking part in its graduate showcase last year.

A year after completing an MA in Fashion Design, James returned to London Fashion Week to present his womenswear collection that focuses on outerwear and sportswear, featuring alpaca mohair and ostrich features. His Merit Award win sees James receive three seasons of sponsored showcasing with Fashion Scout during London Fashion Week, alongside regular mentoring sessions with key industry members.

Designer Hannah Williams (design pictured below) graduated from UCA in 2013 after securing the prestigious Womenswear Award at Graduate Fashion Week alongside the GFW Fashion Innovation Award for her groundbreaking silicone collection in the same year.

Hannah will be showcasing her MA collection, driven by unusual processes. Inspired by technique, she sculpted the garments onto live models and used a variety of materials such as silicone, plaster and acrylic.

When speaking to Fashion Scout, Hannah said: “I am heavily influenced by sculpture and therefore wanted to change the normal process of fashion. I didn’t want to pattern cut or sew, I wanted to create a new way of design.”

“I’m so pleased to see that graduates from Fashion at Epsom have achieved such success at internationally renowned fashion weeks,” said Steven Dell, Course Leader for BA (Hons) Fashion at UCA. “Micol, James and Hannah are already receiving industry recognition as designers and their collections are creative, inspired and market-leading.”
