Fashion Week Bites

15-02-2005

}London Fashion Week is well underway and this season it seems to be a real clash of the shows. Take your pick from Eye2Eye and Rendez-Vous over in East London, Pure Womenswear and Intimate London Body & Beach at Olympia – plus all the various Fashion Week on and off schedule shows/exhibitions, it’s a job to know where to turn next!

Keeping out of the madness this week is Tracey Boyd. A regular on the fashion week schedule Tracey has opted to display her autumn/winter 2005/06 collection in the form of a book. From A-Z – each Tracey Boyd look is captured on film and accompanied with a little poem. Tracey Boyd’s Autumn Alphabet  features her in-house model – Marie Hiedacher with words by Adrian Wright. The idea came about when Tracey decided she wanted to create something with a bit more longevity than a wham-bam-thank-you-mam catwalk show. The book is the first of a continuing series. Designed to look like a fairy tale about a girl lost in the woods you can flick through a collection full of crochet inspired prints, fitted jackets and pretty chiffon dresses. www.traceyboyd.com

Clocking up shows galore is the model of the moment Ruslana Korsunova. From Emma Cook to Jenny Packham Ruslana, represented by Models 1, has been working her magic with her feline face and waist-length locks. Other models doing the rounds include – Erin O’Connor, Naomi Campbell, Lizzy Jagger, Lily Cole and Theodora Richards.

On the attendance front famous faces so far include: Rachel Hunter – who is over in the UK to present a new Channel 5 TV series called Make Me a Supermodel, – Minnie Driver – Lisa Snowdon – Juliette Lewis and Caprice.

As for buyers and press the British Fashion Council has been busy persuading us that all is well. 4,500 press and buyers are expected to walk through those LFW doors during the week to check out 165 designers and to attend 48 on-schedule catwalk shows.{mosimage}

What’s been showing so far? Well, lots of city shorts, cropped trousers, billowing sleeves, cinched waists, fancy knits, colourful tights and multitudes of textures and embellishments. Check back on FashionCapital for a full report later in the week.
