Fashion Bites…

The blue and white gingham dress that Judy Garland wore in The Wizard of Oz has been sold at auction in London this week for £132,000.

Tesco is to launch a website dedicated to its clothing lines this summer. The non-transactional site will showcase all of Tesco’s clothing ranges, including Florence+Fred, F+F Men, Cherokee and Value. The site will feature a store finder to help customers identify where certain items are stocked. Customers will also be encouraged to register with the site to receive regular product news and offers. Tesco clothing sales have gone up by 28% in the last year – the dramatic rise has been attributed to great press coverage.

Harvey Nichols has joined forces with the British Racing Board to provide female race goers head-to-toe fashion advice. A personal shopping team will be on hand to create the perfect outfit for the likes of Ladies Day at Royal Ascot. The advice extends to hair, make-up and accessories, not forgetting to mention a complimentary glass of bubbly while you make those all-important hat decisions.

Not shy of the super skimpy and sexy – Julien MacDonald has announced that he is busy designing his very own beachwear line. Due to launch at September’s London Fashion Week expect gorgeous little bikinis, kaftans and colourful cover-ups.

While spring finally gets into gear here in the UK, down-under preparations are well underway for Mercedes Australian Fashion Week. Running from 1st – 8th May designers will be showing-off their Spring/Summer collections 05-06. Now running into its 10th year MAFW has rapidly become the biggest fashion event in the Asia Pacific. This seasons schedule is jam-packed and Fashion Capital will be featuring first-hand reports from the event in just over a week.
