LFW Day 4 – Sophia Looks to the Future with Clean Lean Lines
London Fashion Week Report Day 4
Ever since Joseph snapped up her first commercial collection, the Sophia Kokosalaki show has become one of the hottest tickets on the London Fashion Week schedule. Presenting her Autumn/Winter collection in the stark surroundings of a vast office space Sophia sent out modern futuristic pieces that had her signature all over them.
With a cleaner look than her previous collections her attention to detail was immaculate – stopping short of overdoing it. Graphic cut outs, raised top-seaming and spider webbing featured on lean, minimal dresses and tops. Necklines were either plunging V’s or slashed and simple. Inspired by Sci-fi movies and Swarovski crystals her colour palette remained pure – with white, black, grey and a touch of metallic silver.
Working with stretch jersey, leather, wool and chiffon her sense of proportion maintained a contemporary elegance. Even the highly acclaimed Mr Alexander McQueen (one of her biggest fans) went along for a glimpse. Dresses were layered over jersey polo necks, while mini skirts and leggings were teamed up with boxy wool jackets.
With only her 8th collection under her belt – Sophia’s strong designs have already captured the imaginations of press and buyers on an international scale. Over the past year her business has doubled and from the looks of this latest stunning line she’s on track to go even further.
