A Successful Industry Meeting at Westminster
Last Wednesday, 16th September, Fashion-Enter Ltd was delighted to host an invitation-only industry meeting at the Palace of Westminster, co-hosted with the UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT). Bringing together 61 representatives from across the UK garment and textile manufacturing sector and supporting organisations, the meeting provided a valuable opportunity to share perspectives and explore how we can work more collaboratively to strengthen UK manufacturing and improve access to public procurement. The feedback has been extremely positive, and we are pleased that the meeting provided such a constructive and engaging forum for industry discussion.
We were particularly pleased to introduce Neeraj Sharma from WeAreDaisyChain, and to highlight the important work being undertaken around neurodivergent employment, circular fashion and inclusive manufacturing. Neeraj shared insights from his Churchill Fellowship, including how skills development, genuine manufacturing opportunities and public procurement can work together to create meaningful employment and stronger businesses. His work aligns closely with Fashion-Enter’s commitment to developing skills, supporting diverse learners and building a more sustainable and inclusive UK manufacturing sector. We look forward to continuing the conversation and exploring opportunities to collaborate with Neeraj and WeAreDaisyChain.
Levi’s Clothing Repair Workshop – 2nd October
A free hands-on Levi’s® Clothing Repair Workshop with Discovery Education is due to take place on Friday 2nd October, giving students aged 14 – 18 the chance to get stuck into practical garment repair while exploring sustainability and the importance of extending the life of our clothes. From learning useful repair techniques to discovering how repair culture can make a difference in schools and communities, the session will also showcase potential career pathways across fashion, repair and sustainability.
Taking place from 4 – 7pm at FEL HQ in Haringey, North London, this is a brilliant opportunity for young people to learn some genuinely useful skills, meet people from the industry and get creative with clothing rather than simply throwing it away.

London Fashion Week: High Street and High Drama

London Fashion Week has just wrapped up and, if there was one word to describe it, it would have to be inclusive — from M&S making its official LFW debut to independent designers, repurposed deadstock, made-to-order fashion and a record-store catwalk!
There was plenty to debate, plenty to admire and, naturally, plenty of people outside the shows photographing each other’s outfits rather than the clothes on the runway. Sustainability, accessibility and the future of fashion were all firmly on the agenda, proving once again that LFW is about much more than simply what’s going to be hanging in the shops next season.
We also loved seeing the next generation of designers from the London College of Contemporary Arts taking centre stage, with some wonderfully imaginative and thought-provoking work. From cephalopods and Scottish history to identity, sustainability and emotional storytelling, the ideas were certainly flowing — and thankfully, nobody appears to have told young designers that fashion has to be sensible! Our full LFW round-up takes a look at the highlights, the debates and a few of the more unexpected moments.

Pink Threads: Fashion, Awareness & Wellbeing
Our first Pink Threads free community workshop took place at FTA Leicester on 21st September, in collaboration with Breast Cancer Now, bringing together 12 women for a session on combining breast cancer awareness, wellbeing and practical fashion skills. And what better garment to make than a bra!
Participants learned about breast cancer screening before getting hands-on with bra construction, measurements and pattern cutting — proving once again that fashion education can be about much more than making clothes. It was a lovely morning of learning, creativity, conversation and meeting new people, with participants describing the workshop as both enjoyable and therapeutic.
This was just the first of four free Pink Threads workshops, so there are still three more opportunities to get involved. Whether you fancy learning a new textile skill, want to understand more about breast cancer screening, or simply like the idea of spending an afternoon making something useful with a lovely group of people, we’d love to see you!

Sourcing Fabrics & Manufacturers: Where Do You Start?
Caroline Trend is a fashion designer and product development consultant with over 30 years’ experience in the fashion industry. Having worked across design, product development and manufacturing, including running her own UK manufacturing unit, she now works with start-ups and growing brands through her consultancy, Rosebudd Design, helping them take products from initial ideas through development, sourcing and production.
Finding the right fabrics and manufacturers can be one of the most overwhelming parts of developing a fashion product. Where do you look? What information do you need? Should you source your fabric yourself or through your manufacturer? How do you know whether a factory is right for your product?
This free, online session will take place Wednesday 11th November at 10am – please register and a link will be emailed to you closer to the date.
