Levi’s X Christelle Kocher Makes Its Haute Couture Debut
07-07-2026
As Paris currently showcases the Fall/Winter 2026 Haute Couture collections 6th – 9th July, the official calendar brings together 30 couture houses showcasing the pinnacle of craftsmanship, innovation and creative expression. Alongside the established maisons, one unexpected name is making its couture debut – Levi’s®.
Long synonymous with American workwear and everyday denim, the brand has partnered with Paris-based designer Christelle Kocher to present a 10-look capsule collection that reimagines its most recognisable garments through the techniques of French haute couture.

The collaboration represents more than a brand partnership. It reflects a broader shift within luxury fashion, where heritage materials and familiar wardrobe staples are increasingly being elevated through artisanal craftsmanship rather than replaced by traditional luxury fabrics.
Best known for founding Koché and serving as Artistic Director of Maison Lemarié—one of Chanel’s celebrated Métiers d’Art ateliers—Kocher has built her reputation on blurring the boundaries between everyday dressing and couture. Her philosophy, which she describes as “Couture-à-Porter”, brings together accessibility and exceptional craftsmanship, making Levi’s an unlikely yet fitting collaborator.
At the heart of the collection are iconic Levi’s® silhouettes, including the legendary 501® jean and Type II Jacket, transformed through intricate handwork more commonly associated with Parisian couture houses than American denim. Feather embellishments, elaborate embroidery, sculptural fabric treatments, floral constructions and delicate plissé techniques turn familiar pieces into dramatic couture garments.

The collection also explores entirely new silhouettes. Draped black denim gowns, statement feather capes and sculptural headpieces demonstrate how one of fashion’s most democratic fabrics can be manipulated into couture-level creations without losing its authentic character.
Rather than disguising denim, Kocher celebrates it. Resin-coated surfaces, lace applications and handcrafted embellishments preserve the recognisable identity of the fabric while showcasing the technical expertise behind each look.
Accessories continue the couture narrative, with the Levi’s® Baby Brooklyn Bag elevated through artisanal detailing, while oversized feather headpieces introduce movement and theatricality to the collection. The result is a conversation between American denim heritage and generations of French savoir-faire.
Speaking about the collaboration, Christelle Kocher described the project as a reflection of her own creative identity.
“It was a privilege to bring these two teams together and see this collection come to life. This capsule reflects my life between the United States and France, two countries that fuel my creative energy.”
For Levi’s®, the presentation marks a significant milestone in the brand’s 150-year history.
Mathilde Vaucheret, Vice President Europe Marketing & Brand Experience, describes the project as introducing the denim specialist to an entirely new cultural platform.
“Bringing Levi’s to Paris Haute Couture for the first time is a major moment for us. With over a century of history behind the brand, partnering with Christelle Kocher felt like a natural fit.”
Behind the finished garments lies extensive textile experimentation undertaken at the Levi’s® Eureka Lab, where new approaches to denim manipulation, including feather construction, hand embroidery, sculptural volumes and resin applications, were developed specifically for the collection.

Photographed by Kayla Connors, the campaign imagery reinforces this duality, juxtaposing the raw authenticity of denim with the precision of couture craftsmanship. Close-up details reveal the extensive handwork invested in each garment while maintaining the effortless attitude synonymous with Levi’s.
The collection arrives at a time when the boundaries between luxury fashion, streetwear and heritage brands continue to blur. Rather than relying solely on exclusivity through rare materials, designers are increasingly demonstrating that craftsmanship itself can redefine everyday fabrics.
By bringing denim onto one of fashion’s most prestigious stages, Christelle Kocher and Levi’s have challenged long-held assumptions about what constitutes couture. Their collaboration demonstrates that haute couture is ultimately defined not by fabric alone, but by imagination, artistry and the exceptional skill of the artisans behind every stitch.
