From Earth Day to Action: Leicester Made & Regions This Friday!

Today is known around the world as Earth Day, where we’re reminded that the future of our planet is shaped not just by intention, but by action – by the choices we make about how and where we produce. In a world of ongoing global disruption, fragile supply chains, and rising environmental accountability, the case for building resilience closer to home has never been clearer. On-shoring and safe-shoring are no longer abstract strategies – they are practical, responsible pathways toward a more sustainable and secure future for UK industry.

That’s why this Friday’s Leicester Made & Regions event feels especially timely. Bringing together forward-thinking manufacturers, brands, and policymakers, it shines a spotlight on the strength, innovation, and reliability of UK-based supply. As recent upheavals have shown, having a contingency plan on home soil isn’t just sensible – it’s essential. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore how a blended sourcing strategy can protect your business while supporting both people and planet.

Empowering Workshop

On 16th April, the FTA Fashion Hub in Leicester hosted an inspiring AI workshop in partnership with Get Ready for Work, supporting women into employment through practical digital skills. Led by Kaneez Fatima, the session introduced learners to the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, with a focus on safe, real-world applications – from enhancing workplace productivity to supporting everyday tasks. The interactive, hands-on approach helped build confidence and engagement, with participants praising the workshop as “Excellent” and expressing enthusiasm for further training. This successful initiative highlights the growing importance of digital literacy and FTA’s commitment to empowering women with the tools and confidence to thrive in today’s evolving workforce.

Sanna’s Teaching Qualification

A huge congratulations to Sanna Bux on achieving her Level 3 teaching qualification – an outstanding milestone and a testament to her resilience and dedication. Sanna began her journey at the FTA Fashion Hub in Leicester as a student on the Fashion & Textiles course, overcoming challenges with anxiety to build confidence and skills. In 2024, she completed both Level 1 and Level 2 in Stitching and Pattern Cutting, while also volunteering to support tutors during staff shortages. Her commitment and positive attitude led to a well-earned part-time role in administration and tutoring. Now a qualified tutor, Sanna is already making a meaningful impact by supporting learners and sharing her expertise. The entire FTA Leicester team is incredibly proud and excited to see what she achieves next.
