Just Launched: New Youth Ambassadors Programme (YAP) to Empower Young Voices in Justice
12-11-2025
The Attorney General, Lord Hermer KC, has just launched the Youth Ambassadors Programme (YAP) an exciting new initiative designed to give young people across the UK a platform to lead change, shape conversations, and champion justice in their communities.
Running from January to June 2026, YAP will bring together a diverse group of 18–25-year-olds who are passionate about making a positive impact on society. Successful applicants will have the chance to learn from leading legal experts, gain behind-the-scenes access to key legal institutions, and develop their own community projects focused on justice, fairness, and public engagement.
Participants will benefit from:
- Expert-led workshops exploring law, leadership, and public service.
- Exclusive visits to major legal and government institutions.
- A residential weekend at Cumberland Lodge, offering a chance to collaborate and connect with peers and mentors.
- The opportunity to pitch campaign ideas directly to Law Officers before launching their own public-facing projects.
There are no academic entry requirements, and expenses will be covered for all participants. In recognition of their commitment, each participant will also receive a grant upon completion of the programme.
Applications are now open to anyone aged 18 to 25 living in the UK who is motivated to make a difference. Whether you are a student, a young professional, or an active volunteer in your community, this is a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, build networks, and amplify youth perspectives on justice and fairness.
Applicants can choose to apply in one of two ways:
- Written Statement (up to 750 words) submitted via the online form, or
- Video Application (up to 3 minutes) submitted in MP4 format to rolevents@attorneygeneral.gov.uk, alongside Section 1 of the application form.
All submissions must address the four key selection criteria:
- Commitment – your motivation and dedication to making a difference.
- Communication – your ability to share ideas and connect with others.
- Creativity – your originality and innovative approach to challenges.
- Community – your involvement and impact within your local area.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to use their authentic voice and personal ideas, as the programme celebrates individuality, passion, and self-expression.
