Can you believe FashionCapital is 24-years old! While much has changed over the last two decades our core ethos remains the same – to support, advise and engage those in the UK fashion sector alongside the provision of education and services.

Free Advice Support and Networking – Fashion Forward Leicester

Next Tuesday 30th September from 2pm the FTA Leicester team will host the first Fashion Forward meeting at LCB Depot. This is a free event to inform and connect and is open to all within the fashion, creative and manufacturing sector.

Please confirm your attendance via eventbrite, we look forward to seeing you!

Pushing For PPE To Be Made in the UK

ITV recently highlighted the PPE scandal with the compelling documentary: The Covid Contracts: Follow the Money. Companies with little or no track record earned UK Government contracts and made a killing from the pandemic. At the time Fashion-Enter Ltd factory, alongside many other UK manufacturers, took on PPE production, however this was small fry in the grand scheme of things. To now read that £8.7 billion of losses occurred on PPE accounts is simply horrific!

Now the Labour Party has the opportunity to ensure this utter chaotic mess will never occur again. FEL CEO and Chair of ATMF, Jenny Holloway is requesting that the public procurement process is opened up again. Engagement is needed with a roundtable of organisations that genuinely want to support the NHS and to ensure that when the next pandemic occurs (as reported) – we’re fully prepared. This way UK ethical factories have the work they desperately need and the UK will have the right quality stocks of PPE readily available.

As Jenny states: “This is a no-brainer! Make PPE in the UK!”

FTA Leicester Supports Atelier Macleod with Production

The FTA Leicester recently supported on small-batch production for sustainable Leicester based brand: Atelier Macleod. The sustainable, cropped t-shirt collection is now on sale and looks unique and fantastic – to read more about this tap here.

UKFT Innovation In Action Speaker

Our Founder and CEO, Jenny Holloway, will be speaking at the UKFT Sustainability Conference taking place tomorrow, 25th September 2025, at Drapers’ Hall, London. This year the conference theme Innovation In Action, will explore how innovation is driving real change across the UK fashion and textile supply chain. The conference will highlight latest innovations driving a more sustainable industry, from next-generation materials and low-impact dyes and finishes to advanced manufacturing technologies and recycling solutions.

UK–Ghana Chamber of Commerce

Next week, 1st October, Jenny Holloway, will be attending the UK–Ghana Chamber of Commerce to a Dialogue on Driving UK–Ghana Trade Growth in the Garments Sector, as part of the UKGCC Garments and Textiles Roadshow 2025.

This dialogue will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, regulators, and business stakeholders from the UK and Ghana to explore opportunities for deepening bilateral trade in the garments sector.

A Big Thank You to The Genuine Fund

In last week’s newsletter we gave thanks for a generous donation to The Genuine Fund. This has resulted in training for 12 unemployed individuals. Here is a short YouTube video with Jenny Holloway talking about the Genuine Fund and the opportunities it provides.

Staff News…Farewell to Leah

The FEL/FC team say a heartfelt farewell to Leah Martin this week. Leah has been our social media queen, working her way up from apprentice to full-time employment.

Leah said: “The past four-years with Fashion-Enter have been an incredible journey. From covering the excitement of London Fashion Week and witnessing collections come to life at the FC Designer Workspace, to gaining insight into the challenges facing UK manufacturing and exploring how emerging businesses approach sustainability and circularity.

“Now, as I steer my career towards working directly with designers, my goal is to educate and inspire other creatives to prioritise ethical and sustainable practices, enriching our industry and its future. It’s a mission I wouldn’t have had the knowledge or confidence to pursue without the valuable lessons I’ve learned at Fashion-Enter.

“I wish everyone in the FEL family all the best, and I hope our paths cross again in the future.”

FEL CEO Jenny added: “I can remember interviewing Leah online and within the first 5-minutes I thought ‘yep! She’s got it! She’s really on the ball. Leah went on to be our Digital Apprentice and excelled. She has created amazing content across various social platforms and she’s been awesome. Here we are 4-years later and Leah is moving on to do a degree at the London College of Fashion. We really wish her the greatest of luck for the future!”
