Fashion Enter’s CPPD Workshops

19 april cppd asda 2Assistant Buyers and Merchandisers from George at ASDA attended their first CPPD ‘Factory Uncovered’ workshop yesterday (18th April). The group spent half a day with our CEO Jenny Holloway and Head of Patterns, Debbie, to see first-hand the design and garment life cycle.

Feedback included:

“Very useful information about the garments. The speaker was very clear and I understood everything, very good.” Rebern, Assistant Buyer.

“I understood the consequences of trading decisions, the changes of a garment, I was aware of the flow of the factory, that everything needs to be in order before the production starts.” Natalie, Assistant Merchandiser.

“I learnt about the production of garments. It was very informative and well presented.” Daniel, Assistant Merchandiser.

Meanwhile the team from SilkFred came in for their first ‘Factory Uncovered’ CPPD installment last Thursday 13th March. Dividing their time across two-weeks, the team began with the process of garment production, how a garment is costed, lay plans, how factories use standard minutes and what makes an ethical, compliant factory. Tomorrow (20th April) the team will return for their practical session with Head Pattern Cutter Debbie.

Two Workshops Not To Miss Next Week!

Fabric Appreciation – Wednesday 26th April

As a designer, fashion buyer or garment technologist it is imperative you understand your fabrics.

It is astonishing that many designers and buyers enter a fashion career with very little textile knowledge or understanding. This course in ‘Fabric Appreciation’ taking place on 26th April at The Factory gives an essential guide to textiles and a general appreciation of textile manufacturing in a live factory environment. It also covers some of influences on cost; lead time and quality.

Led by former Fabric Technologist for M&S Deborah Shulton it has already proven not to be missed!
