Newsletter 2nd December 2015

Dear All,

2 dec looksgreat showA big thank-you to all those that came along and supported the official launch of the Fashion Technology Academy (FTA) last Wednesday.

The launch was held in conjunction with the ‘looksgreat’ designer fashion show where all ten designers showcased have been selected to present and sell designs on the new ‘looksgreat’ website due to go live in the New Year. A big thank-you to The Cult of Fashion and their team for producing such a slick fashion show.

The launch also provided the chance to celebrate the dedicated learners that have already undertaken a range of FTA courses, some of which have gone on to the next level of learning or have landed a job.

Presentations of the Awards were made by Juliet Herd Editor of Hello! Fashion Monthly Magazine, Patron Lord Stone and a special award was presented to George Filkins by Alex Pritchard (pictured below left) the under-21 rising star player for Tottenham Hotspur.

2 dec george tottenhamSpeaking at the event, Alex said: “Coming through the Tottenham Hotspur Academy, I understand the importance of apprenticeships for young people who know which career path they want to take. It was great to meet the young apprentices and see the projects they are currently working on. I wish them the best of luck with their careers.”

Jenny Holloway, CEO at Fashion Enter / FashionCapital, added: “We really believe that the Fashion Technology Academy is the single most important initiative we have ever undertaken. We will be able to help thousands of people gain real work based skills that will lead to employment. With the on-shoring of garment manufacturing that is occurring now the timing of the Fashion Technology Academy is perfect. Our sincere gratitude to Haringey Council, ASOS and DWP for their overwhelming support.”

Councillor Joe Goldberg and Councillor Claire Kober both stated that they were fully committed to supporting manufacturing in Haringey and stressed the importance of real skills for real jobs in the borough.

“I first came across Fashion Enter and the Fashion Studio back in 2012, when I first met Jenny Holloway and approached her with my initial design ideas for the brand. She was full of enthusiasm and at the time I had no money. She encouraged me to believe that it would work and that I could make it possible. The Fashion Studio and the people that work there have been nothing short of amazing.

“The service is incredible. I had previously worked with factories with such unprofessional standards, which cost me a lot of time and sleepless nights. But when I went to Fashion Enter, the team helped me at every single stage. Even when things were tough, they helped me out. I could not be more grateful to Jenny and her team. They are waving the flag for British manufacturing and not only helping me, but many others to achieve their personal and business goals.

“The day they sent me back my final sample, I could have not been happier and I have never seen a sample made so impeccably well in all my time. – House of Quinn
